FAQ's

Acoustic transparency refers to a material’s ability to allow sound waves to pass through without significantly altering their energy. This is measured by the Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC), which indicates how much sound a material absorbs.

During our tests, we evaluated the SAC of a standard 12mm gypsum board—both unpainted and painted. The SAC values, which depend on the frequency of the sound waves, ranged from 0.04 to 0.07 for both scenarios. These consistent results confirm that Smarter Surfaces paints do not affect the board's acoustic properties, ensuring they remain acoustically transparent. Whether painted or unpainted, the material absorbs sound energy within the same range, allowing sound to pass through as effectively as the original surface.

Yes. Smarter Surfaces Silver Screen Paint is compatible with both 2D and 3D projectors. When used for 3D projections, the silver paint for projector screen enhances the overall immersive experience, maintaining the vivid effects and depth intended by the technology. Paired with 3D glasses, it delivers sharp, vibrant visuals, making it the perfect choice for both projection modes.
The gain value of the Silver Screen Paint is the highest in Smarter Surfaces range by far, designed specifically for 3D projection, because of its unique properties achieved by the silver technology. This means a very high level of light reflectivity without interfering with the polarity of the reflected light delivering an exceptional 3D experience.
In 3D projection, there are two slightly different images that are projected onto the screen and these images then pass through special optical filters, polarizing the light in unique ways for each image. When viewed through 3D glasses, each lens blocks one image, thus allowing each eye to see a different picture. For this effect to work properly, the projection surface must preserve the polarization of the light.

Silver Screen Paint is "polarity preserving," meaning it ensures that the polarized light remains unchanged, so you experience the 3D effect just as it was intended—without any distortion. This feature therefore guarantees that the full immersive 3D experience is delivered every time.

The Silver Screen Paint works effectively on plaster, wallboards, wood, metal, and composite materials. It’s also ideal for fabrics that are stretched or under tension. However, kindly note that it is intended for indoor use only.
We recommend applying Smart Silver Screen Paint onto a previously primed or painted surface. Prime bare, untreated surfaces with two coats of White Primer.
Wear a respirator face mask as Silver Screen Paint is spray applied paint. Use the gloves supplied in the kit while applying the paint. Additionally, safety glasses should be worn. As with any painting process, ensure the room is ventilated.
The recommended lighting setup for Silver Screen Paint is low or medium ambient lighting.
Silver Screen Paints are suitable for use with 3D projectors ( HD, 4K, and 8K Projector) above 3000 lumens.
During the spraying process ensure the area is clear of people as the spraying process like all paint that is spray applied will create a spray mist which with disappear after a few minutes with ventilation after the spraying is completed and the area ventilated it is completely safe. There is a very low odor during the drying process and the VOC level is low.

Over time dust can gather on your silver screen paint - use a damp cloth ( water ) with no detergent and dap the surface clean and allow it to air dry.
Silver Screen Paint is 100% free of Isocyanates. At Smarter Surfaces we do not use isocyanates in our Silver Screen Paint or any of Smarter Surfaces products which is a hazardous product and should only be used by trained professionals using rigorous safety procedures.

Yes, Silver Screen Paint is fully safe for use. It is low in VOCs, solvent-free, and does not contain PFOA, PFOS, or isocyanates, thus making it an eco-friendly choice for your space. Also, this projector screen paint is independently certified for VOC’s. Use the gloves supplied in the kit while applying Silver Screen Paint. As with any paint product we recommend wearing gloves and glasses during application.

Silver Screen Paint is not flammable, making it suitable for use in schools and offices.

A silver screen is better suited for environments with low to medium ambient light, as it can help to reject that light and improve image quality. A white screen, on the other hand, is better suited for bright rooms or environments with high ambient light.

The flashpoint of the Silver Screen Paint is above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

The primary use cases for Silver Screen Paint is for 3D projection including home theatres and commercial theatres.

Yes, the Silver Screen Paint is designed for commercial applications, including movie theatres, conference rooms, and museums.

Yes, Silver Screen Paint can be more cost-effective than a traditional screen, especially for large or custom screen sizes.

Typically the process of application is done over two days. Day one is preparation and priming. Day two is spray application of the Silver Screen Paint, however application in one day is possible provided the first coat is touch dry before the application of the second coat.

Minimum 12 Degrees to Maximum 28 Degrees with humidity below 80% which would be considered normal parameters for paint application via spray.

3D Silver Screen Paint - Installation Guide for Projection Surfaces

How to Apply 3D Silver Screen Paint

Silver Screen Paint can only be applied by spray. It can never be applied by roller or brush. Also, airless spray systems are not suitable and must not be used.

Use either a HVLP sprayer with a recommended tip size of 1.8mm or a Gravity-Fed Pot Gun with a tip size of 1.4mm to 1.6mm operating at air pressure between 40 and 60 PSI. To ensure optimal spray performance, apply Silver Screen Paint in a room with a temperature between 12°C and 28°C and humidity below 80%.

Standard airless sprayers are not suitable for application of Silver Screen Paint.

Follow the steps below for applying the paint and getting the best results :

  • Prepare the Wall - Clean, smooth, and prime with two coats of white primer. Fill and sand any defects.
  • Mask the Area - Use masking tape to outline your projection surface.
  • Get the Paint Ready - Keep at room temperature. Stir well. Do not add water.
  • First Coat - Spray a light coat evenly with 50% overlap. Maintain a 30 cm distance. Let dry for 4 hours.
  • Second Coat - Apply a light but solid finish coat.
  • Curing - Wait 24 hours before using.

Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpaper Reviews

Mary Bethencourt - Union School District

This is a very impressive product. As a teacher and administrator of a large school we are always on the lookout for solutions that improve the learning environment but can be implemented inside annual budgeted and during maintenance periods. We are now on our third annual installation programme with over 35 classrooms complete. Highly recommend it from both a teacher / student and longevity perspective.

Openrice Technology - Joe Y - Director

The Magnetic Whiteboard Wallpaper Low Sheen has really helped improve our working space. One of the aspects we like the most is the projector functionality which is not reflective when projecting, resulting in high quality images. We found this product to be particularly useful for meetings as it allows you to really make full use of the walls which is ideal, especially for small meeting rooms. We plan to change the meeting facilities in our other meeting rooms and will continue to use the Magnetic Dry Erase Wallcovering. We have already placed our second order. Would highly recommend any business looking to make the most of their office walls.

Inno Education - Ian Jones

Having Smarter Surfaces products, in particular the magnetic projection walls, in our educational training spaces speeds up the sharing of ideas and really improves student engagement. Instead of using a post or a flipchart we can just start writing on our tables and walls. From a visual communication perspective the projection, magnetic and writable functionalities are really powerful for sharing information with our students. You can use the magnetic functionality to stick information on the wall, write over it and then project as well, it really means we can share information in a meaningful way.

FAQ's

Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpaper is made with a magnetically receptive backing layer, this then has a low sheen whiteboard projection layer on top so it performs just like a whiteboard projector screen, but magnets also stick to it too. It is applied just like a traditional wallpaper.

Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpaper is suitable for use with most projectors, including interactive projectors. For high definition or very powerful projector use, we recommend choosing one of our Projector Paints instead.

Use Neo Magnets or any good quality neodymium magnets for best results.

For our Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpaper use a vinyl on vinyl adhesive. Use a roller to apply the wallpaper adhesive to the wall. Apply two good coats. Additional adhesive may be required at the edges this can be added with a brush along the edges or seams as required.

Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpapers can be hung horizontally or vertically, depending on your preference.

To achieve seamless joints with Smarter Surfaces Magnetic Vinyl Wallpapers, make sure to closely align the edges (butt the joints) or slightly overlap them. Then, use a sharp blade to double-cut through both the layers for attaining a smooth and professional finish.

Yes, Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpaper can be applied to most reasonably smooth surfaces, including curved ones. However, before installation, make sure to thoroughly remove any loose material such as remnants of old coatings or wallpaper.

Also, in case of absorbent surfaces, an initial coat of White Primer is essential to prepare the area for optimal adhesion.

For Smarter Surfaces Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpapers, a vinyl-on-vinyl adhesive is essential. Use a roller to evenly apply two solid coats of adhesive to the wall while paying special attention to the edges. This is because the edges might require additional adhesive for a secure and long-lasting finish.

Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpaper can be hung horizontally or vertically, depending on your preference.

When applying any of smarter surfaces magnetic vinyl wallpapers, butt the joints, or overlap and double cut through both layers with a sharp blade.

If an area of the joint requires additional attention, add extra adhesive and continue to work together If the seam is not flat, gently lift the edge of one section of the writeable projectable magnetic wallpaper off the wall and guide the material to slot together and work again with spatula. You may need to add a small amount of extra adhesive

Simply remove like any other commercial wallpaper.

Use a utility knife to slit the bubble keeping slit as small as possible. Push down on the bubble to remove the air from the bubble. With a syringe or glue applicator, squirt glue into the opening. Smooth the deflated bubble with a roller. Wipe off excess adhesive with a damp sponge.

Primer is required only for absorbent surfaces to ensure proper adhesion. However, even in case of uneven surfaces, applying a primer can also help achieve a smooth finish before installation.

Yes, we recommend that you wear gloves during the application process to protect your skin.

Additionally, kindly refer to the detailed health and safety guidelines provided on every Smarter Surfaces™ product label.

Please also ensure that you read the safety instructions included with your ready-mixed adhesive to take all necessary precautions.

You can use any premium-quality whiteboard markers with our Magnetic Dry Erase Wallpapers for optimal performance. Also, for your convenience, we offer high-quality markers for purchase on our website. These markers are ideal for Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpaper.

Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpaper Installation

How to Apply Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpaper

Magnetic Projector Screen Whiteboard Wallpaper is easy to install and ready to use in just 48 hours.

For the best usability, we recommend hanging the wallpaper horizontally for convenient, eye-level use. Follow these steps for an easy application process:

  • Step 1 - Prepare the surface. Fill any cracks or defects, then sand until smooth and clean. Lay the wallpaper flat, measure accurately, and trim to size using sharp scissors or a razor.
  • Step 2 - Use only vinyl-on-vinyl adhesive (normal wallpaper adhesive is not suitable). Apply two coats evenly to the wall. Roll out and position the projector screen whiteboard roll on the wall into the wet adhesive, just like traditional wallpaper.
  • Step 3 - Smooth the surface using a hard plastic wallpaper spatula, push out air bubbles or excess adhesive from the centre to the edges. Neatly cut away any excess using a razor blade.
  • Step 4 - Wipe with a damp cloth to remove leftover adhesive and wait 48 hours before using the surface.

FAQ's

3D projectors work by projecting two slightly different images which overlap on the screen. These images are passed through special optical filters which results in the light being polarised in a different way for each of the projections. When you view the two images through special 3D glasses, each lens blocks one of the images, meaning that your left eye sees one image and your right eye the other image.

It's therefore really important that the projection screen you use does not change the polarity of the light if you are using a 3D projector. All of our paint products are "polarity preserving" which means that the image you see will be exactly the same polarity as is intended, preserving the full 3D effect.

Once applied to your wall, our Projector Paints provide an ideal projection surface. Set up your projector and direct it towards the painted wall. The projector screen wall paint works with most projectors, including interactive ones. Projector Screen Paint Pro is not suitable for outdoor projections for outdoor projection choose our Outdoor Projection Paint.

Choose Projector Screen Paint Pro for high-performance projection in an office or learning environment which natural light is present

The recommended lighting to use alongside Projector Paint Pro is normal to high ambient light it will of course also work very well in low ambient light.

Blended projections are a popular technique for creating immersive and dynamic visual experiences, commonly used in settings like art installations, theatres, and large presentations. Achieving seamless and cohesive projections depends heavily on the choice of projection screen. Our projection screen paint is formulated to support the blending of multiple projections on one surface, yielding impressive results.

To ensure smooth transitions between images, blending projections requires accurate colors, consistent brightness, and excellent light diffusion. Our projection screen paint is prepared with these factors in mind, enabling a cohesive, immersive display.

For large-scale screens, our projection screen paint removes the need for bulky and costly physical screens, offering a more flexible and cost-effective option for blending projections. Turn any space into an immersive canvas where multiple projections blend beautifully, capturing the attention of your audience.

Yes, our paint works excellently with both 2D and 3D projectors, ensuring the best performance in all projection modes. For 3D projections, it seamlessly enhances the experience, creating an immersive effect when used with 3D glasses.

The Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC) measures the amount of sound energy a material absorbs when sound waves pass through it. In our tests, we measured the SAC for a 12mm gypsum board, a typical building material.

SAC values can differ based on the sound wave frequency that passes through the material, as various wavelengths interact with the material in distinct ways. Therefore, SAC values are presented as a range, as they vary with the frequency of the sound waves. The results from our tests are as follows:

Unpainted Board α = 0.04-0.07
Painted Board α = 0.04-0.07

These values reflect the SAC for both unpainted and painted 12mm gypsum boards. The SAC range of 0.04-0.07 shows that some sound energy is absorbed within this range, depending on the frequency of the sound waves. It means that the paint does not affect the board’s acoustic properties, as there is no significant difference between the unpainted and painted versions. It demonstrates that there's no significant change in sound absorption due to the paint.

Yes, Projector Screen Paint Pro is entirely safe. It is low in VOCs, and free from solvents, PFOA, PFOS, and isocyanates, making it environmentally friendly.

To ensure safety during application, we recommend using the gloves provided in the kit, as is standard practice with any paint product.

Yes, Projector Screen Paint Pro is completely free of isocyanates. Unlike some lower-quality alternatives, we do not use this hazardous substance in any of our products. Isocyanates require specialized training and strict safety measures for usage.

We recommend wearing the gloves included in the kit when applying Projector Screen Paint Pro. Additionally, safety glasses should be used. Always ensure the room is well-ventilated during the painting process.

No, Projector Screen Paint Pro is not flammable. It meets certified fire performance standards, making it safe for use in schools and offices. Its high flashpoint exceeds 158°F.

Yes. Projector Screen Paint Pro is safe for use in both adults and children. It is a low-VOC, low-odor product and free from isocyanates, ensuring a safe application process.

If the paint comes into contact with your skin, simply wash it off with warm soapy water.

Use water to clean up spills and tools.

Use a regular dry cloth or a slightly damp one to wipe the surface clean.

This depends on a number of factors such as projection equipment, amblient light and what type of use such as video conferencing or movies for example. Projector Screen Paint Pro is designed for use in normal to high ambient light and white (RAL 9003) is the best option unless you have specific projector surface requirements and powerful projection equipment

Projector Screen Paint Pro reflects 7.8mW.

Ultra High Contrast Projector Screen Paint Reviews

Matt the Movie Buff - Cincinnati

For movies the results have been great, the contrast paint projection kit itself was comprehensive including the roller which was a little small but adequate. The paint is easy to apply but the results are really noticeable. Arriving less than 24 hours after ordering a happy experience across the board so I would review the contrast projection paint with 5 stars.

Thompson Jarvic - Home Cinema Solutions

Repainted an old fixed frame cinema screen with the Ultra Contrast Projection Paint for us at 20% of the price of replacing it and the result is better than we could have imagined. The clarity and resolution is first rate. Highly recommended 10 / 10 review.

FAQ's

After applying Ultra High Contrast Projector Screen Paint to your wall, allow it to dry and then prepare your space for projection. Now position your projector and direct it toward the painted surface. This paint is compatible with most projectors, including interactive models.

Also, it can be applied to various surfaces such as plaster, drywall, wood, metal, and concrete, thus making it a versatile choice for different environments.

Yes. Ultra High Contrast Projector Screen Paint works with blended projections. It delivers a uniform finish that ensures consistent color, brightness, and contrast across the entire projection area for a smooth viewing experience.

Smarter Surfaces projector screen paint works flawlessly with both 2D and 3D projectors, delivering stunning performance regardless of the projection mode. When paired with 3D glasses, it offers an immersive viewing experience, effortlessly maintaining the intended effect for a captivating 3D experience.

3D projectors essentially use two overlapping images, each polarized differently for the left and right eyes. It's vital that your projection screen doesn’t alter this light polarity.

Our paint is specifically "polarity preserving," thus ensuring the images remain in their intended form, allowing the 3D effect to stay intact and immersive when viewed through specialized 3D glasses.

Acoustic transparency essentially refers to how much sound passes through a material without being absorbed. The Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC) measures this, showing how much sound energy is absorbed as sound waves travel through the material. During our testing, we focused on a 12mm gypsum board, a common building material, to assess its acoustic properties.

The SAC greatly varies depending on the frequency of the sound waves, as different frequencies interact with the material in distinct ways. However, it is important to mention that our test results showed no difference in the SAC between unpainted and painted surfaces:

Unpainted Board α = 0.04-0.07
Painted Board α = 0.04-0.07

These results indicate that Smarter Surfaces Ultra Contrast Projection Paint does not affect the sound absorption properties of the board. The paint therefore, remains acoustically transparent, ensuring that sound passes through just as it would on an unpainted surface, preserving the integrity of both visual and audio experiences.

Ultra High Contrast Projector Screen Paint can be applied to various smooth surfaces. This includes plaster, wallboards, wood, metal, concrete, and composite materials. This paint is designed exclusively for interior use.

Yes, we recommend applying Ultra High Contrast Projector Screen Paint on a surface that has been either primed or previously painted. Therefore, for bare or untreated surfaces, it is essential to apply two coats of White Primer to ensure optimal adhesion and performance.

Additionally, to ensure safety during application, kindly use the gloves provided in the kit. Also, like with any other paint product, we advise wearing gloves to protect your skin while applying the paint.

Yes, Ultra High Contrast Projector Screen Paint is completely free of isocyanates. Unlike many other lower-quality alternatives, we ensure to prioritize safety and do not include this hazardous substance in any of Smarter Surfaces products. Additionally, isocyanates require specialized handling and strict safety measures, and this therefore, makes it unsuitable for general use.

While applying Ultra High Contrast Projector Screen Paint, make sure to wear the gloves that are provided in the kit and also, wear the safety glasses for additional protection. Furthermore, you must ensure that the workspace is well-ventilated to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.

No. Ultra High Contrast Projector Screen Paint is non-flammable and is also certified for fire safety. This makes it ideal for use in schools, offices, and other professional environments. Also, the paint comes with a flashpoint exceeding 158°F, and it thus offers both safety and reliability.

Yes, it is absolutely safe to apply this paint around adults and also children alike. As a low-VOC, low-odor product that is free of isocyanates, this grey projector screen paint ensures a completely safe application process in occupied spaces.

To clean the painted screen surface, use a regular dry cloth or a slightly damp one for gently wiping the surface. This ensures your screen remains clear and fully functional.

Projector Paints are compatible with most projectors, including interactive models.

The gain value of Ultra High Contrast Projector Screen Paint is 0.32 at a viewing angle of 90°

FAQ's

An ultra short throw projector screen surface is designed for use with ultra short throw projectors placed very close to the wall. The surface has tiny angled ridges that reflect light from the projector toward the viewer while absorbing light from above. This helps reduce glare and hotspotting, improves contrast, and delivers deeper blacks for a clearer, sharper image even in bright rooms.
Smarter Surfaces Ultra Short Throw Projector Screen Paint is backed by a 5-year product guarantee, ensuring reliable performance over time. With proper care, including gentle cleaning and avoiding abrasives, the surface remains durable and visually consistent for long-term use.
Short Throw Projector Screen Paint performs optimally well in environments with normal to high ambient lighting, therefore making it ideal for well-lit spaces.
Short Throw Projection Screen Paint is specifically designed for creating interactive projection surfaces that are ideal for immersive learning and collaborative spaces. It works seamlessly with short throw and ultra-short throw projectors, thus making it an excellent choice for classrooms, offices, and meeting rooms with moderate to high ambient light.
3D projectors function by projecting two slightly different images that overlap and are polarized through optical filters to create distinct light patterns. When these images are viewed with 3D glasses, each lens blocks one image, ensuring one eye sees one image and the other eye sees the second.

For a true 3D viewing experience, the screen must maintain the light's original polarity. Short Throw Projector Screen Paint is specifically engineered to preserve light polarity, ensuring the projected 3D visuals are displayed with complete accuracy and immersion.
Gain value refers to how efficiently a screen reflects light, affecting the brightness and clarity of a projected image.

A gain of 1.0 is the standard, matching a matte white screen. While a higher gain results in brighter images, but narrows down the viewing angles, a lower gain, on the contrary, provides wider angles with slightly reduced brightness.

Choosing the right gain value depends on your environment, lighting conditions, and audience layout.
Gain directly impacts the brightness of the projected image and the screen's viewing angle, thus ensuring clarity and optimal visual quality under different lighting conditions.
Well, not necessarily. While higher gain certainly increases the overall brightness, it often reduces viewing angles. This makes it less ideal for larger audiences positioned at wider angles.
The standard gain for a projector screen is 1.0. A gain of 1.0 offers uniform brightness and optimal visibility from various angles. However, selecting the right gain depends on your distinct viewing requirements and environment. Make sure to thoroughly evaluate the advantages and drawbacks of high and low gain screens to make an informed decision that best suits your individual needs.
Short Throw Projector Screen Paint works best on smooth surfaces such as wallboards, plaster, wood, metal, concrete, and other similar composite materials. It is exclusively designed for indoor use.
Yes, we recommend applying the paint on a primed or pre-painted surface. Also, for bare or untreated surfaces, make sure to use one coat of White Primer to ensure optimal adhesion and performance.
Absolutely. Short Throw Projector Screen Paint is low in VOC, free from solvents, PFOA, PFOS, and isocyanates. This makes it a safe and eco-friendly choice.
No, 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector Paint is completely isocyanate-free. Unlike other lower-quality alternatives, we meticulously ensure that all our products are safe and user-friendly, thus eliminating the need for specialized handling or safety precautions.
We recommend that you use the gloves provided in the kit during the application process. Additionally, wear safety glasses to protect your eyes. Ensure that the room is well-ventilated throughout the painting process, as is required during any other painting activity.

Absolutely. Short Throw Projection Paint is designed keeping safety in mind, thus making it ideal for use around both adults and children alike. It is certified as a low VOC and low-odor product, and it contains no isocyanates, ensuring a safe and user-friendly application process in any environment.
To keep your screen clean, gently wipe it with a dry cloth or a slightly damp one as needed.

FAQ's

Outdoor Projector Screen Paint is intended for outdoor environments with high ambient lighting.

Outside projection screen paint is ideal for outdoor spaces with high ambient light levels. Maximize your outdoor space with clear picture quality for events, beer gardens, or home installations. Project football matches, music videos, or marketing ads on external walls or floors, day or night.

The Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC) is the measure of the amount of sound energy absorbed by a substance when sound waves travel through it. In our test, we assess the SAC for a 12mm gypsum board, a typical building material.

The SAC could vary depending on the frequency of the sound waves going through the substance. Different types of sound waves have varying wavelengths, which can interact with the material in a variety of ways. As a result, the SAC values offered are a range of values, as the SAC varies with the frequency of the sound waves absorbed. In our testing, we recorded the following outcomes:

Unpainted Board α = 0.04-0.07
Painted Board α = 0.04-0.07

The values provided are for a 12mm gypsum board that is unpainted and painted. The range of SAC values for these materials is indicated by the α values of 0.04-0.07 for both the unpainted and painted board. This implies that a portion of the sound energy emitted by sound waves passing through a 12mm gypsum board will be absorbed by the material, with the absorption rate varying between 0.04-0.07, based upon the frequency of the sound energy. Nevertheless, it also suggests that each of our coatings is acoustically transparent, as there is no difference between the standard board and the painted one.

Three-dimensional projectors work by putting two slightly different images on the screen at the same time. When these images are put through certain optical filters, the light is polarised in a way that is different for each display. Each lens blocks one of these images when you look at them through special 3D glasses. It implies that your left eye sees one image and your right eye sees another image.

When you use a 3D projector, the projection screen you choose mustn't change the direction of the light. "Polarity preserving" means that all of our paints will give you the same image polarity as the original, keeping the full 3D effect.

Blending projections is a common technique for generating immersive and dynamic visual experiences in a variety of settings, including art installations, theatres, and vast presentations. The choice of projection screen is critical for creating smooth and unified presentations. Our projection screen paint is great for merging many projections on a single surface. Our projector paint's advanced method is particularly developed to make mixing easier and produce superior results.

Transform any space into a fully immersive canvas in which many projections blend seamlessly, enthralling your audience.

Outdoor Projector Paint is designed to be applied to the external of buildings, it is typically applied with a roller, brush or spraying.

Surfaces that are to be painted should be dry, clean, and free of loose debris, with any holes or cracks repaired. For buildings that have high levels of debris or dirt build up pressure washing with water is recommend if required. Ensure you have enough product to cover the area required. New surfaces such as external plaster or wood should be painted with two coats of primer first such as White Primer or a smooth exterior white paint.

Please note that if the Outdoor Projection Screen Paint is applied to a heavily textured surface, you may need extra paint as the coverage will be reduced due to the texture. Before application, stir the paint thoroughly. Use a short-pile sleeve to apply two coats, allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second. For optimal projection results, wait 24 hours after application.

Outdoor Projector Screen Paint may be used on plaster, wallboards, metal, wood, concrete, and composites. It is only for external usage.

We suggest applying Outdoor Projector Screen Paint on a previously primed or painted surface. Prime untouched surfaces with two coats of White Primer.

Outdoor Projector Screen Paint - Easy Installation Guide

How to Apply Outdoor Projector Screen Paint

Installation Steps :

  • Prepare the Surface: Clean the surface and remove any rough masonry through scraping and sanding.
  • Prime the Surface: Apply two coats of white exterior wall paint to new surfaces like plaster or mortar. Follow this with one coat of white primer.
  • Stir and Apply: Stir the Outdoor Projector Screen Paint thoroughly before use. For best results, apply using a short-pile roller.
  • Apply Two Coats: Allow the first coat to dry for 2-4 hours before applying the second coat.
  • Drying Time: Ensure each coat is fully dry before applying the next one at 20°C.

Getting Started with Your Outdoor Projector Screen Paint
To begin your outdoor projector screen paint project, make sure you properly prepare the surface. Clean surfaces that have been exposed to the elements and remove any rough masonry. Scraping and sanding will help ensure a smooth finish, which is essential for optimal paint adhesion.

Once the surface is clean and prepped, take accurate measurements of the area you want to cover. For new surfaces such as plaster or mortar, it's important to apply two coatings of white exterior wall paint before moving forward. After that, a white primer coat will help create the perfect foundation for your projector paint.

Once everything is primed, stir the Outdoor Projector Screen Paint well and proceed to apply the paint with a short-pile roller for even coverage. Apply two coats of the paint, allowing the first layer to dry completely before adding the second one. Wait for at least two to four hours at 20°C between coats to ensure optimal drying.

FAQ's

It is suggested to use this paint in environments with normal to high ambient light levels.
Interactive Projector Paint is designed for users who want to create an interactive projection surface for immersive learning or collaboration. Perfect for use with touchscreen projectors, this paint is ideal for classrooms, offices, and meeting rooms. Its key feature is its resistance to human touch, staining, and cleanability.
3D projectors project two slightly different images that overlap on the screen. These images are filtered through specific optical filters, causing the light to polarise differently for each projection. When you look at the two images through special 3D glasses, each lens blocks one of them, so your left eye sees one and the other eye sees the other image.

If you're utilizing a 3D projector, make sure that the projection screen you use does not affect the polarity of the light. Each of Smarter Surfaces paint products is "polarity preserving," which means that the image you see will have the same polarity as intended, keeping the entire 3D impact.
Blending projections is a widely used technique for crafting immersive and dynamic visual experiences in applications like art installations, theaters, and large-scale presentations. Achieving seamless and unified projections largely depends on selecting the right projection surface. The interactive wall screen projector paint provides the perfect solution for combining multiple projections on a single surface. With its cutting-edge formulation, it is specifically made to simplify the blending process and ensure exceptional results.

Seamlessly blending projections demands precise color accuracy, consistent brightness, and superior light diffusion for a flawless transition between images. Our projection screen paint is designed to address these requirements, enabling a unified and immersive viewing experience.

The interactive projection screen paint offers a flexible and affordable alternative to bulky and costly physical screens for large-scale displays. It allows you to transform any surface into a seamless, immersive canvas, where multiple projections blend effortlessly to captivate your audience.
Yes, all Smarter Surfaces paints are fully compatible with both 2D and 3D projectors, delivering outstanding results. For 3D projections, the paint enhances the effect, providing a captivating and immersive experience when combined with 3D glasses.
Gain plays a crucial role in the brightness of the projected image and the quality of viewing angles. It impacts how well the screen reflects light, influencing both the sharpness of the image and the range of the viewing angle.
No, a projector screen with a higher gain doesn't automatically ensure better image quality. While it may enhance brightness from certain angles, it can also reduce brightness from others. High-gain screens typically offer a narrower viewing angle.
A standard projector screen typically has a gain of 1.0, providing uniform brightness from all angles. However, the ideal gain depends on your personal preferences and the specific viewing environment. Weighing the advantages and disadvantages of both high and low-gain screens will help you find the best match for your setup.
Interactive Projector Touch Screen Paint can be applied to a variety of smooth surfaces, including plaster, wallboards, wood, metal, concrete, and composites. It is intended for indoor use only.
We suggest applying Interactive Touch Screen Projector Paint on surfaces that are already primed or painted. For untreated, bare surfaces, it’s recommended to first apply one coat of White Primer
Yes, Interactive Projection Screen Paint is entirely safe for use. It is low in VOCs, and free from solvents, PFOA & PFOS, and isocyanates.

The Interactive Wall Screen Paint complies with top environmental standards. We advise using the gloves provided in the kit when applying the paint.
Yes, Smarter Surfaces Interactive Projector Wall Screen Paint is entirely free of isocyanates. Unlike some lower-quality products, we do not include isocyanates in our paint or any other products, as isocyanates are hazardous and should only be handled by trained professionals following strict safety protocols.
Wear the gloves included in the kit when applying Interactive Projector Screen Paint. It's also important to wear safety glasses. As with any painting activity, make sure the room is well-ventilated.
Interactive Projector Screen Paint is non-flammable and has been certified for fire safety, making it suitable for use in schools and offices. It has a high flashpoint of over 158°F.
Yes, it is entirely safe to apply for both adults and children. The paint is certified as VOC-free and has a low odor. Additionally, Interactive Projection Paint is free from isocyanates, making it highly safe for use around people.
In the event of skin contact, rinse the area with warm soapy water.
Simply clean it up with water.
You can wipe the surface with a dry or lightly damp cloth. For stubborn stains use the Smarter Surfaces everyday cleaner.

High Contrast Projector Screen Paint Reviews

Orbut New York

Very good resolution for gaming. It really created higher contrast levels but I think a powerful projector and low light are important. It was easy enough to apply, and perfect for our home theater wall.

Energy Apps - Wisonsin

Never would have thought of painting a projector screen, but bought the high contrast paint to use in the office where we have our gaming setup. Didn’t want to load in a big screen on top of everything else in there. Absolutely love the new screen with our laser projector. Really great picture with such good visual depth and contrast once you dim or turn off the lights.

Tech27 AV Inc - Dallas

Really ups the contrast levels on movies compared to our old white screen. It creates a richer image quality for a more immersive viewing experience. You definitely need to pair it with a projector that has higher lumens to get the most out of the new screen.

This Green Screen Paint delivers professional-quality chroma keying with high color saturation and brightness. It has made post production keying easy. Fair play for such a good product.

At E3XS we were expanding a material based wraparound greenscreen in our studio and were looking to bookend it with physical walls. Finding a paint that could reasonably match the existing colours, as well as operate well under studio lighting conditions proved difficult, but Smarter Surfaces greenscreen paint worked an absolute treat! The wall only took 1 day to paint between undercoating, drying and two applications of the greenscreen paint. The result speaks for itself, a clean, unbroken matte finish, perfect for real time chroma keying! I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a high quality greenscreen paint!

Forget about fabric screen wrinkles! Created a green cyc wall with the Smarter Surfaces Green Screen Paint. Applied a few coats and a lot of tins, but the results are great.

FAQ's

Green screen paint is a key component in video, photography and media production used for "chroma keying". This particualr color creates a durable and even surface to make post production easier when keying out the background.
By using a very particular shade of green it is possible to remove or "key out" this specific colour digitally in post production. You can then add whatever you like to the background or add special effects. Removing the coloured background is also referred to as "chroma keying".
To make post production easier. In order for it to be easy to remove the background colour it needs to be a colour that’s not in the shot. This green is very different to human skin tones and generally is not a colour used for clothing, etc.
A green screen has a higher luminance and reflects more light than a blue screen meaning less lighting will be needed during filming, therefore cutting down on costs. Green is also a colour less commonly found in clothing, making post-production editing easier. Blue screens have a lower luminance making them better for dark or night scenes.
Using a green screen paint eliminates the need to try to get the wrinkles out of a traditional fabric screen. Painting will also free up a considerable amount of space. You don’t need stands and other support gear to hold the screen.
You need a very narrow range of colored light to reflect off your screen and get captured by your camera. The paint you choose will have a major impact on what your camera sees. A regular green paint won’t provide this.

Our paint is made specifically to be the optimal color. The resulting green color is more pure and less likely to reflect any colors that would cause problems in post production. The ultra-flat matt finish of the paint has no sheen. The flat finish of interior house paint still has a small amount of sheen/gloss. The result is more even lighting with less chance of surface reflections coloring the image.
Yes. We have supplied a primer with Smarter Surfaces green screen paint kit. This will ensure you paint the best green screen background, which is smooth and free from defects.
Green screen backdrops can be very expensive. Smarter Surfaces green screen paint is a more affordable option and costs from $150 depending on the surface area.
No for proper chroma keying you need a high quality green screen paint or fabric backdrop. This will make it much easier to isolate the subjects in your video.
You can, but you will likely not receive the same results as with a professional green screen paint or fabric as a very specific colour of green is needed for premium results.
This will depend on how you intend to use the green screen - behind a desk, waist and up view, full body view or have multiple people on screen.

Behind Your Desk – This setup will only require one tin of paint to cover 6m2 (or less) and is suitable if you are sitting behind a desk streaming, creating content, or video conferencing. It will allow you to move during the shot.

Waist & Up View – this setup will require one tin of paint, covering 6m2. It will allow you to show subjects standing with their torso and above. This will allow you to move during filming too with a dimension of 1.5m x 4m

. Full Body View – this setup will require one tin of paint, covering 6m2, which will allow for limited movement. An ideal setup for photography and videography, but you may require more paint tins for greater coverage and allowing for more movement

. Two People On Screen – this setup will require one tin of paint, covering 6m2, which will allow for very limited movement. An ideal setup for photography and videography, but we recommend two tins for greater coverage if the subjects are going to move a lot.
Once you have installed your green screen you must ensure you have the correct lighting to help with a smoother post-production process and better final result. It’s important to have diffused lighting (i.e through a softbox) set from above your green screen to avoid any directional shadows.

The next step is to begin recording and editing your final product. When filming, it should be noted that there needs to be sufficient spacing between the green screen and the subject being filmed to avoid a green hue being reflected upon the subject.
Yes green screen paint is completely safe it is solvent free and is low VOC

Green screen paint meets the highest EU environmental standards
Green Screen paint is 100% free of Isocyanates.
When applying green screen paint, use the gloves provided in the kit and wear safety glasses for added protection. Additionally whilst the odor is minimal ensure adequate ventilation in the room for a comfortable experience.
In case of contact with skin, rinse skin with warm soapy water.
Use warm water to clean the paint.
Use Smarter Surfaces Chroma Key Green Paint to create a smooth, even, and non-reflective green screen.
